Taylor Swift Speaks Now in Her “Mean” Video About Being Put Down – Video Review

Taylor Swift might stand “gigantically tall” at a reported 5′ 11″ but the Big Machine recording artist Speaks Now and not a minute too late about being put down.

“There’s constructive criticism, there’s professional criticism and then there’s just being mean.”

“Mean”, Taylor Swift’s newly released video and current single off her “sold-a-million-copies-in-a-week” third album Speak Now promotes praises of support to anyone who’s fallen victim to this unfortunate era of bullying. Bullies come in all shapes and disguises. When one knocks you down it’s not always easy to muster up the strength – internally or externally – to stand up to or against such a wrath of persecution.

Taylor shares on her website that

each Speak Now song is “written with a specific person in mind”; that they’re “made up of words I didn’t say when the moment was right in front of me.” She suggests, “There’s always going to be someone who’s just mean to you. And how you deal with it is all you can control”.

So how did Taylor deal with her tormentors?

Well, Taylor did what Taylor does. She struck back in signature Taylor fashion – lyrically, vocally, artistically. Refusing to deny herself the right to feel injured, Taylor Swift picked up a banjo and put down her prosecutor. She emerges from a farmhouse to stardom in both real life and her newly released “Mean” video. And “to a man I used to be afraid of” watch how Taylor bluntly gets the last word.
